About this event

Presence empowers & disrupts. It is a chamber of resonance.

The latest research shows that coaching presence is not about the coach alone. As presence is not a tool. Not even a tool of self … as it is not about your intention how to show up. While presence includes your capacity to listen actively and other all-time highs such as ‘attunement’, ‘cocooning’, and ‘being fully there’ for our client, at its core it is more than deepening and expanding your ‘self’. It is an entire network and crossroads of stimuli and needs, that navigate us and that we’d better navigate if we were to pretend that we are present.

While we espouse to have presence as a powerful way to focus on what is relevant, most of the time we have too much or not enough of it. Other times, we believe that presence is an end per se rather than a means to an end. The result is that we remain presence-less in our efforts to ‘be’ more and ‘do’ less.

When we are really present, we have a compass that urges us to:

  • challenge our internal as well as external authority
  • challenge paradigms and theories and models and processes in place
  • challenges us to reconnect with our own senses to sync in with reality rather than take things for face value
  • challenges our worldview and that means ‘trouble is brewing’

as we must leave big comfort zones and open up to a lot of things and experiences in and around us that are unknown.

In this experiential setting, we will explore, reflect, and jointly make meaning of the somatic nature of presence in coaching as a growth and development intervention. We will create space for

  1. leaving our own default state of presence that feels most comfortable,
  2. exploring our presence-ness integrating the I, the Other, and the We in coaching, and
  3. reflecting the consequences of our presence-less-ness in our comfort zone.

About the Speaker: Tünde Erdös, PhD, MCC, EMCC

I have 20+ years of experience in entrepreneurship and leadership in the manufacturing industries (i.e., turbines, paper machines, robots, battery, and road marking systems, etc.). I coach in synergy with leadership, HR, teams, and workshop staff mostly in culturally diverse environments.

My vision is to coach for connection between all stakeholders. The goal is to encourage systems-collaborative thinking, which is the key to organizational thriving beyond individual growth. In addition, I place my practice on evidence base through my own engagement in research. I am aware that we need deep understanding of what works for clients’ eco-systems beyond some flights of fancy.

Recently, I started running my ICF accredited coach training ‘integrative presence’ focusing on ‘presence’ as the most important coaching competence at mastery level. Furthermore, I have been appointed by the UN to supervise their internal coach pool covering both individual and systemic team coaching skills.

I hold a PhD in Business and Organizational Management, an Ashridge Master’s in Executive Coaching, a Master’s in Translation and Simultaneous Interpreting, and a Bachelor’s in Law. I am an Ashridge accredited Executive Coach, an ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC) and a Senior Practitioner with EMCC. Apart from being an avid conference speaker, I lecture at HEC in Paris, supervise MSc students at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and publish articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and professional coaching magazines (German and English). I have authored two books to date. Most recently, I am producing a documentary on coaching ‘The Light and Shadow of Coaching – In and Beyond Organizations’. It is a non-for-profit project to collect money and fund a coach training program for the charity Mama Organization in Kenya starting 2022.
