The Hard Skills of Emotional Intelligence

Description:
Emotional Intelligence is a hard, measurable skill and is not the same as EQ. EI is the ability to perceive (Map) emotion, use (Match) emotion t
o facilitate thought, understand the cause (Meaning) of emotion, and effectively manage (Move) emotion to achieve desired outcomes. This workshop is based on the foundational work of John Mayer and Peter Salovey.

Learning Objectives:
*Understand the differenc
es between EI and EQ.

*Learn how EI is measured using the MSCEIT (Mayer Salovey Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test) assessment tool.

By the end of the session, you will be familiar with the ability-based model of EI,
 how to use the model in your coaching practice, and how to integrate the EI Blueprint into your personal and professional life in real-time.

Presenter: Lisa Rees

Lisa Rees is a highly regarded professional who believes in the power of trust and emotional intelligence to build strong relationships and successful organizations. With a wealth of experience and expertise, Lisa has dedicated her career to supporting leaders at all levels and helping them create safe and inclusive cultures.

 

As the owner of LTR Leadership, Lisa provides skill-building, coaching, and practice opportunities to develop emotional skills competencies in leaders. Her approach focuses on earning trust, leveraging emotions, and achieving goals.

 

Lisa’s work experience spans an impressive 37 years with US Citizenship and Immigration Services. During this time, she served as a leadership coach, senior leader, and finance and budget expert, making significant contributions to the organization. Towards the end of her federal career, Lisa developed leadership development programs for senior leaders within her agency and taught emotional intelligence at the Naval Post Graduate School, US Marshal Service, and DHS’ Office of Biometrics.

 

Lisa became an International Coaching Federation Professional Certified Coach in 2015. She is also certified in Emotional Intelligence and has written several books and journal articles on EI with her colleague David Caruso. Lisa earned a Master's degree in Public Administration from Norwich University. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Management and an Associate's degree in Accounting, both from Champlain College.
