Guiding Light: Navigating the Ethical Terrain of Coaching

In this interactive discussion, we'll explore how the ICF Code of Ethical Conduct can be your guiding light to demonstrate your professionalism, avoid ethical conflicts, and prevent you from losing an engagement over ethical issues. We'll start with a discussion about where ethics come from. Are they hard and fast rules, or something else? Then we’ll use actual case studies to translate the theory of the Code into the reality of situations with clients and sponsors. As we explore the cases, we'll adjust the facts to see how our assessment of the situation changes as the facts change. Come prepared to have fun as we challenge thinking and "knee jerk" responses.

About the Speaker: Philip Cohen, MCC
Philip Cohen, MCC has been coaching business owners and executives since 1994. He was a founding member of ICF and served on the international Board of Directors for 5 years, while also serving as ICF Treasurer. In addition to coaching and mentoring other coaches, he also teaches at two ACTP schools. One of the courses he teaches is Coaching Ethics and believes ethics is one way to distinguish between a professional and counterfeit coach.
