Boost Your Clients’ Success and Fulfillment by Leveraging VIA Character Strengths
July 8, 2021 from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

What is your big “Why” for being a coach? What brings a sense of purpose or meaning to your work? For many coaches, it is witnessing clients discover and develop their potential to be more successful and fulfilled. Maximizing potential is at the heart of the ICF definition of coaching and is a key tenet of Positive Psychology, the science of human flourishing, a fantastic theoretical framework for our work as coaches. Positive Psychology studies people at their best, doing what is meaningful, connecting with others, and enjoying life more fully.

Research on how people flourish led to the VIA Character Strengths model. Character strengths are positive personality traits, some of the best qualities in people. Used strategically, they are a source of innovation, motivation, resilience, and meaning. This interactive presentation with demonstration and breakout practice will teach you practical applications to weave character strengths into your coaching and develop your clients’ positive potential for greater success and fulfillment.

 Stephen Coxsey and Irene Nizzero

Stephen Coxsey, MA, PCC, is a coach trainer, mentor, and assessor. He taught an introductory coaching course for an ACTP for over five years and currently teaches a course in the positive psychology specialty certification track for that ACTP. He has mentored dozens of coaches preparing for their oral exams through two ACTPs and is a PCC markers assessor for both.

Steve is a self-leadership, business ownership, and executive coach with fourteen years’ experience coaching small business owners and ten years’ experience coaching senior managers and emerging leaders in business and government organizations. His approach to coaching integrates skills and applied research from the fields of human development, positive psychology, and neuroscience. His experience as a consultant in schools, as a therapist, and as a co-owner and manager of a small business before becoming a coach all inform his understanding of the challenges his clients face.

Irene is certified with the International Coach Federation as a Professional Certified Coach. She currently owns and operates Positive Advantage Coaching. She is also on the faculty of an ACTP, teaching an introductory course, along with courses that are part of a Positive Psychology specialization. In addition, Irene also mentors coaches individually, or through a group program she operates with a coach-partner.

For 18 years Irene was on faculty at the local community college, teaching psychology courses, her favorite being Positive Psychology. Her coaching practice is infused with many constructs and applications from this rich field.

She enjoys problem solving with clients to help them arrive at their deeply desired future state. Irene considers coaching to be a gift that clients give themselves; that opportunity to focus energy, time and attention on those topics and opportunities that will help them achieve the most rewarding expression of their lives.
